This creature looks like a cross between a vampire bat and a panther, with a bit of viper thrown in for good measure. It dwells amongst graveyards, battlefields, and other places where death is abundant. However, it itself does not feed on the dead. It only goes these places to follow its prey, the rat. However, it does have a somewhat morbid fascination with death and undeath. It lacks the intellect to fully understand all the forces at work in the process, however it is very curious and will often watch dying creatures with great intensity. Because it follows and observes death, it frequently encounters the undead, particularly ghouls. As a result it has adapted to protect itself from these creatures and ghouls, being intelligent, have figured out that their attacks usually have little, if any, affect on the creatures and have generally come to leave them alone. The creature usually hunts rats by first dazing them with its eye contact, then slashing with their claws and bites. This creature is smart enough to realize that it is not a match for most parties and will often simply leave them with a bite and a hiss. Sometimes it inquires those who have been frequently resurrected about what death, what dying feels like, what it is like, and what it feels like to come back from the dead. It speaks draconic and infernal.
