Shrews are the tiniest mammals on the planet, often smaller than a mouse. The dire variety, however is quite bigger. Shrews live much like mice in fields of grass & hay. They burrow into the ground to make dens and mate often & frequently. Scavengers by nature, they eat anything smaller than themselves.
