Prismatic Butterflies are perhaps some of the most beautiful, awe-inspiring creatures known to exist the mere sight of one can be enough to inspire courage in even the most cowardly of creatures and sear the vision of evil and the undead. They roam the woodlands freely, and are exceedingly rare and valuable spirits. As their name might suggest, prismatic butterflies are truly beautiful creatures. Anatomically, they resemble simple (although larger) elegant butterflies, with wings of every colour of the rainbow and even beyond that. Yet, a chromatic aura surrounds them, radiating beautiful colourful light that creatures are able to discern from miles away. Prismatic Butterflies are most likely to be encountered at night (if at all) rather then during the day, and their rainbow-like aura illuminates the starry sky, turning night into day It is a whispered myth that the Prismatic Butterflies are actually the essence of a poets tears long ago, there lived a high druid who was also a devoted poet and artist. He wept at the world, for so many were suffering, in doubt, and depressed. Such was his compassion for the world, that he caused his tears to take form into a magical creature- intended to be inspiration to artists, poets, and writers everywhere. To this day, whenever an artist seeks encouragement and motivation, they often wander the wilderness at night, whispering and reciting their latest work, all in the hopes of attracting one of these rare and magical beings and on many an occasion, they do. Prismatic Butterflies speak only Sylvan, although understand common.
COMBAT
Prismatic Butterflies are not effective combatants, and will always flee a direct confrontation. However, many evil tyrants seek to make spell components and magical items from their wing scales, which has fired within them a hatred of all evil individuals, and therefore, making them more likely to engage in battle (but only if the adversary is evil-aligned). They burn flesh away with their wing beams, and are especially effective when fighting undead.
Wing beams (Su): Prismatic Butterflies are able to conjure forth beams of searing light from their wings scales, that inflict 1d6 points of damage of a type depending on the light colour, and double damage against undead.
Red: Fire damage
Blue: Electrical damage
Green: Acid damage
Yellow: Divine damage
Orange: Heat damage
Purple: Positive energy damage
Indigo: Sonic damage
Burning radiance (Su): Prismatic Butterflies radiate a fierce aura of inspiration or terror depending on the observer. All good-aligned creatures benefit from a +2 competence bonus to all saves, attack rolls and damage rolls, while evil-aligned creatures suffer from a -2 penalty to such rolls. Also, any evil-creature of less than two hit dice must make a will save (DC 15) or become shaken for 1d4+1 rounds. This effect affects creatures within 35 ft. of the Prismatic Butterfly.
Illumination (Su): Prismatic Butterflies always radiate a colourful and bright aura of radiation identical to a light effect. It can be dispelled, but the butterfly can reactive it as a free action.

Prismatic Butterfly wings
The wings of a prismatic butterfly are valued enormously, both for decoration, financial worth, and magical components. Most wings can fetch up to 4,000 gp on the market each, and are especially sought out by wizards practicing spells such as prismatic spray, prismatic wall, and prismatic sphere.
